Mummy and Me dates are a great way to spend quality time with your child. While time together at home is important, it's also essential to get out of the house and away from your typical routine. Mummy and me dates allow you to teach your child new things they may not learn through play at home. So pack a bag for the day and head out on a new and exciting adventure!

1) Photo Scavenger Hunt

Don't forget your phone for this one! Before you leave home, make a list of a few things that you would both like to find. Keep your list handy as you run your errands or go for a walk. Every time you see something on your scavenger list, snap a picture. Save to your camera roll or post on your Instagram story so your friends can follow along. When you get home, you'll have a great memory of how you spent your day!

2) Dress Up Day

During spring or autumn cleaning, go through your closets and “dress up”. Look through the attic to see if there is any type of old clothing that you can turn into a fun costume. Spend the day adding to it or applying makeup. Before you know it, you will have your Halloween costume ready to go (months early)! Be creative and think outside the box. By only using the materials and old clothing you have available, you will be amazed at your little one's creativity.

3) Picnic in the Park

Having a picnic is always a great option for a mummy and me date. Have your little one help you make the sandwiches and gather all of the items you will need for the picnic. Work together to pack the picnic basket and then head out to your favourite park or playground. Take a walk and look for the perfect place. If you're lucky, you may be able to find a small river, pond or lake to sit by!

4) Visit a Petting Zoo

If there is a petting or farm based zoo near your home, find out if they allow children to interact with the animals. Not only does this make for excellent pictures, but it's a great opportunity for your little one to learn about animals. If they allow it, older children may also enjoy feeding or interacting with the animals.

5) Ice Cream Social

Another great idea for a mummy and me date is an ice cream social. Spend a few minutes trying samples to pick out the perfect flavour and then sit outside and enjoy the breeze. Cold ice cream on a hot day is a great way to relax and spend some quality time with your favourite kiddo.

Your children are only little for a short time. Embrace every moment while you can! Mummy and me dates are a great way to make cherished memories that you can share with them as they grow. Take as many pictures as possible and always make sure you are in them with your child. Pictures are great but they are priceless when they include both of you.
