Fathers Day with the Bobux Community

This Fathers' Day we're celebrating the ones who care for, support, guide and love our next generation - Dads, Grandpas, Single Dads, Uncles, Stepdads, Mums who Dad, Soon to be Dads, Great Grandads, and all Father Figures.

We had a chat with some of our Bobux community (and their littlies) about what being a parent means to them and what they have planned for this Fathers’ Day.

Dad to Theo 5 + Isla 13 months

How are you celebrating this Fathers day?

Spending the day with the kids, hopefully we can take them out to the beach for a fish and explore around the Rock pools. Being outdoors is what we enjoy

What advice would you give a future Dad?

Give them as much of your time as you can. All they want is your time. Do your best to shut out the day when you get home to focus on them and be present in the moment.

What is the most important part about being a Dad/Father figure to you?

Having kids makes you appreciate the little things in life, it's the simple things that you enjoy so much more. You are forced to slow down, be a big kid and enjoy all the special moments together.

Dad to Lucas 21 Months

How are you celebrating this Fathers day?

With Auckland still in level 4, we’re hoping for good weather, which will allow us to enjoy a walk about at our local parks for fresh air and Lucas likes to chase ducks in his boots.

What advice would you give a future Dad?

As first time parents, when our Lucas arrived. We received multiple pamphlets, we called these ‘the baby manual’. A few months into parenthood, we throw them all away. Lucas showed us every baby is unique and yours will be too. He/she might be a daytime sleeper and a nighttime screamer or choose to live solely on formula and bananas. You and your partner may just have to work together to tend to these demands and If you have any concerns, ALWAYS seek professional help then to depend on ‘the baby manual’.

What is the most important part about being a Dad/Father figure to you?

At his age ,seeing Lucas healthy, smile, laugh, explore, being active and just generally happy makes my day. If I get to see all of the above from Lucas that’ll make a perfect Father’s Day for me because I’m doing something right as his dad.

(Q for the kids) Tell us the best bit about your Dad/Father figure?

In their own words: Lucas is 21 months, he said “hmm mm mm hmm” and yummy yummy

Dad to Oscar 4, Henry 3 + Archie 19 months

How are you celebrating this Fathers day?

Well much the same as most people during these times; As a family unit playing Avengers, basketball, tennis, games involving the planets as Henry is obsessed and probably more Avengers. I’m hoping for some downtime throughout the day to watch a Toy Story movie. The other, just as important, celebration of the day is Tasha’s birthday!

What advice would you give a future Dad?

This one’s a hard question as I try not to give advice unless it’s asked for however I think any advice I’d give would be based around remembering kids learn from observing more than what you say to them. Be an example to your family.

What is the most important part about being a Dad to you?

For me I think about the fact that our kids are our legacy, they are the mark on the world we will leave behind so when we are gone  I hope to be remembered through 3 caring, compassionate, honest and loving boys.

(Q for the kids) Tell us the best bit about your Dad/Father figure? In their own words:

Oscar - When he plays with my action figures with me

Henry - When daddy makes me smoothies

Archie can’t quite talk yet….
