Bobux -Soft Soled leather shoes that stay on

How do you pronounce Bobux?

The 'Bo' is pronounced 'Bow' or Bo' and the 'bux' is pronounced 'bucks'.

Where are Bobux products made?

Bobux Original shoes are proudly made at our production facility in Auckland, New Zealand, Aotearoa, the mystical land of the Long White Cloud.

How did Bobux begin?

The founder of the Company Chris Bennett, an Architect from New Zealand, designed the Original Bobux shoes in 1989 for his baby daughter Chloe. He invented the innovative funky design concept of the bobux shoes and introduced them to the World in 1991. Since their introduction, imitators have copied the Original Bobux shoe design with the original elastic ankle strap closure, however the inventor stills consider theses copies as the' ultimate form of flattery'. Why are soft-soled shoes better for my child?

Allowing babies to walk barefoot in the first year helps them develop good toe gripping and muscular strength. While being barefoot is best for a baby, sometimes it isn't practical. Bobux has chosen the highest quality leather that is flexible, soft and breathable. The soft sole allows freedom of movement while protecting against injury.

How often do new Bobux designs come out?

Generally we introduce new designs twice a year.

Can I make a recommendation for a future design?

We welcome your creative idea: please email your ideas to design@bobux.com.

Can I return my Bobux packaging for recycling?

At Bobux we recognize the importance of recycling; we encourage you to recycle the cardboard insert at your local recycling facility. The "clear view" packaging is totally recyclable (class 3) and therefore we encourage you to put it out with your other recycle material.  The packaging can also be used in a variety of ways.  Here are some suggestions:

    Sizing your Footwear

How quickly do children's feet grow?

Children's feet grow very fast so remember to check your baby's feet often. It is important to allow at least one finger's width from the end of the longest toe to the tip of the shoe or 1/4 to 1/2" (1/2- 1 cm) extra when selecting footwear size. If your child wears socks inside Bobux shoes or booties, you may want to allow extra room.

How can I find out what size Bobux shoes to choose when buying?

Bobux has created a sizechart available online that allows you to measure your child's foot in order to purchase the correct size.  Please click here to view and print off the sizing guide.

How do you know which shoe is the left or right shoe?

If the Bobux label is on the right hand side of the shoe it indicates a right handed shoe. The left hand shoe like wise has the label on the left hand side.

How do you put Bobux footwear on?

The easiest way is to insert two fingers on either side of the ankle and stretch the elastic wide. Then scoop your baby's toes into the front of the footwear and hook the back of the footwear around the ankle.

What are the widths of the shoes?

Because Bobux products are made out of soft leather, every fit varies, depending on the child's feet. Therefore it is difficult to provide an accurate measurement of the shoes' and booties' width.

Do you make adult sizes or larger children sizes?

At this time, Bobux offer larger sizes up to 9XL in certain styles available overseas.  Within New Zealand and Australia sizes up to 5XL (5 years) in certain styles are available for purchase.   Buy bobux giant sizes...

Caring for your Shoes and Booties

Should Bobux shoes be worn with or without socks?

Either way.  In colder months a pair of socks worn inside the shoes will add a little extra warmth.  The elasticized ankle band also helps to keep socks on.  Click here to buy socks.

Are Bobux shoes suitable for wearing outside?

Both shoes are ideal for indoor and light outdoor use. Please note that Bobux products are not waterproof and should only be used in dry conditions when outdoors. Also, because Bobux products are made with genuine leather and suede, rough outside surfaces can wear them out prematurely.

    Are Bobux shoes machine-washable?

Yes, you can periodically machine-wash them in cold water. Wash them separately, as dark color may bleed. Partially dry your Bobux shoes on a low setting in the dryer, then reshape them and let air-dry completely.  For regular upkeep and extended wear, hand wash with mild detergent or spot clean using mild detergent and a damp cloth.  For best results use a normal leather cleaner.

What can I do to prevent the leather dye from running?

Sometimes the darker leathers run when the shoes come in contact with excessive moisture.  If this happens, wash and thoroughly dry the footwear a couple of times before using them again. If this does not help, we will gladly exchange them.
